Design Development
Working within the project's established visual direction, I refined the floor maps and signage to improve clarity, consistency, and accuracy. This involved reviewing layouts, updating details, and making careful adjustments to ensure the information was easy to navigate and cohesive across the building.
Rather than treating each sign as a standalone piece, I considered how the maps and signage worked together as a unified wayfinding system throughout the space.
Digital Fabrication & Material Exploration
Translating the designs into physical signage involved preparing the artwork for laser engraving and working directly with the materials. The signage was laser-etched onto black acrylic, creating a precise, tactile finish.
I applied white acrylic paint to the engraved surfaces to enhance contrast and improve the legibility of the graphics against the black background. This hands-on process connected the digital artwork with its physical application, balancing visual clarity with the material qualities of the finished pieces.
Installation & Implementation
Alongside the design and fabrication work, I collaborated with the client to explore installation solutions suited to the space and the signage requirements. This meant considering how the pieces would be mounted and experienced within the building, ensuring the designs translated effectively from the digital layouts to the finished environment.
Outcome
The project brought together design refinement, digital fabrication, and practical problem-solving to develop a cohesive wayfinding system for BlueDot Coworking. Through detailed revisions, hands-on material work, and client collaboration, I helped translate the existing design direction into functional, physical signage that supports navigation throughout the space.
